BTFCalc uses the measured final volume because ingredient weights alone cannot reliably predict blended volume.
- Review the calculated kcal/mL, protein g/mL and free-water fraction for each blend.
- Add blends, commercial formulas, modulars, water flushes and food by mouth to one chronological record.
- Review the daily totals by source and route. Nutrient coverage shows where information is missing.
- Copy the chart note, or download a workbook to reopen later or edit in Excel.

Formula comparison, food search and label entry
- Compare a blend against 51 adult Canadian tube-feeding formulas at a daily volume you choose.
- Search the Canadian Nutrient File with flexible word order and spelling. BTFCalc returns matches but does not select a food.
- Record modular powders in grams and liquids in millilitres, with the route for each. Water used to mix a powder is entered separately.
- When the label-photo feature is available, upload a photo of the product’s Nutrition Facts table instead of typing the values. The form is filled automatically. Check the extracted values against the original table before continuing.
Data and limitations
BTFCalc uses Canadian reference data and follows the Canadian Nutrition Facts panel. It is intended for Canadian use. Supporting another country requires a reviewed data pack and validation against that country’s nutrient and reporting conventions.
Missing information is not treated as zero. The Coverage column shows how many sources supplied each nutrient value. A value not printed on a label remains blank, and rows with no source values are hidden.
The calculator cannot measure viscosity, tube flow or tolerance. It does not set targets, recommend a feeding plan, or assess an individual.
Records and privacy
BTFCalc has no account system or patient-record database. The hosted app processes inputs during the active session. Download a workbook to keep your record. It includes whatever you entered in the record label, so store and share it according to local privacy policy.
When you use the label-photo feature, the image is sent to Anthropic’s Claude Haiku model, which extracts the values from the Nutrition Facts table and fills the form. Do not include patient information anywhere in the image. You can type the values into the form instead.
If local policy requires calculation inputs to remain on the device, BTFCalc can be run locally with values entered by hand.
